The Histochemical Society offers a number of awards to its members, including travel awards and achievement awards. You must apply for an award or be nominated (see invidual descriptions for details), be a member in The Histochemical Society, and attend the annual meeting and be present to receive the award.

Applicants of any award except the Carpenter-Rasch Awards must also submit an abstract to HCS by the Abstract submission deadline January 20, 2012.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for either HCS Merit or Travel Awards, the following criteria applies to all applicants:
- Apply for the award
- Be a member in good standing of The Histochemical Society
- Attend the Annual Meeting and be present to receive the award

The following awards require nominations and do not accept applications:
- The HCS Outstanding Young Investigator Award
- The Anna-Mary Carpenter-Ellen M. Rasch Award
- The George Gomori Award

Individual awards may have additional criteria including the submission of an abstract and either an oral or poster presentation at the Annual Meeting. Please see individual awards for further information.

FASEB MARC Awards
The FASEB MARC Program will sponsor the HCS/FASEB MARC 2012 Travel Awards to help support the participation of faculty/mentors, postdoctoral fellows, and students from minority institutions and historically black colleges and universities in the United States. Faculty, students, and postdoctoral fellows of underrepresented groups from majority institutions are also eligible to apply for these travel awards. The HCS/FASEB MARC travel awards will provide up to $1,650 in funding for travel-related expenses and meeting registration to each award recipient (in the form of reimbursement after the meeting). The application deadline for MARC Travel Awards is February 12th, 2012. The MARC Awards have their own application form and instructions for applying.

IFSHC David Glick Lectureship
The International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry presents this award at each International Congress of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry in recognition of the contributions of David Glick. The Lecturer selected should be a prominent histochemist or cytochemist, who will be granted travel expenses, a cash honorarium and a scroll or certificate to mark the award.
