The George Gomori Award

(Next award: 2015)

This is the highest award offered by the Society and was established in 1987. The purpose of the award is to honor Dr. George Gomori and to recognize outstanding contributions to the field of histochemistry and cytochemistry. It is presented every four years at the Annual Meeting of the Society in the year immediately preceding the meeting of the International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry.

Eligibility: Membership in The Histochemical Society is required.

The award consists of an award plaque listing the names of the founders of The Histochemical Society and a cash prize of $2000.
