About HCS Membership

Types of Membership
Candidates for
Regular Membership must possess a doctoral degree or its equivalent in training or experience and have published at least one independent definitive paper (or have been a substantively contributing joint author on at least three definitive papers) on histochemistry, cytochemistry, or related subjects.
Candidates for
Associate Membership must be post-doctoral students, Research Technicians, or individuals working in the industry.
Candidates for
Student Associate Membership must be pre-doctoral students. They need not meet the publication requirements for Regular Members, but their application must be endorsed by their academic advisors. Be sure to include the title of your master's thesis or doctoral dissertation and date of degree.
Candidates for
Emeritus Membership- Regular members who have retired from remunerative professional activities may, at their option, apply in writing for Emeritus membership. Emeritus members will be excused from annual dues and other assessments. Emeritus members shall have the right to vote, but may not hold office. Every year a renewal notice will be sent and Emeritus members must provide current information via the PDF fax form above and inform HCS they wish to continue membership. Contact us at
