Research Associate II - Histology

Job Description: The ideal candidate for our Research Associate II - Histology position is a highly motivated, passionate and experienced histologist who will support studies focused on evaluating mechanism and efficacy of drug candidates in ophthalmic disease targets and programs.  

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Independently perform all histology-related activities including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining; paraffin, cryo, whole mount, and vibratome procedures
• Hands-on immunohistochemical protocols for identification of gene products and edits in cells and tissues
• Utilizing developed skills in immunochemistry and histology, work closely with the members of Preclinical Development to evaluate therapeutic candidates in normal and ocular diseased models
• Support the microscopy and imaging function to enable efficient ocular drug discovery and development
Requirements:
• Histotechnologist or BS/MS in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline with 2-5+ years’ experience; some industry experience preferred
• Experienced histologist and immunochemist, exploiting imaging-based readouts
• Excellent record-keeping, careful attention to detail and possess good time-management skills to successfully manage multiple priorities
• Strong hands-on, bench-science expertise and understanding of antibody-labeling theory, protocols and expected results
• Preference given to candidates experienced in ophthalmic histological techniques, but not a must
• The ability to work independently and to collaborate with a multi-disciplined group in a goal- and team- oriented setting; strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
• Analyze data, interpret results, and maintain accurate records with minimal supervision.
